The fearful apology of iranian National TV, termination of the “Fetileh” show and dismissal of the deputy director of broadcasting came too little and too late as the people of South Azerbaijan stormed into the streets of almost all major cities of S. Azerbaijan including Tabriz, Urumiyeh, Ardebil, Zengan, Marand, Marageh, Sulduz(Naghadeh) and even the capital Tehran in another attempt to stop the most disgusting type of racism demonstrated against 40 million Turkic citizens by iran’s official media.
Urmiyeh-Urmu, S. Azerbaijan’s cultural capital was the very first city to ignite the anti-racism demonstrations immediately followed by people of Tabriz, Zengan, Sulduz, Ardebil and even the capital Tehran.
Demonstrators raised signs and banners calling for equality among the ethnic communities and demanded education and national TV programs in their mother language-Azerbaijani Turkic. They also demanded immediate cessation of all types of persian racism, an apology by the head of National Broadcasting Council and the minister of culture.
There were violent clashes between persian security forces and the Turkic protesters in Tehran, Tabriz, Marand,Ardebil, Marageh, Sulduz and some other regions. The security forces fired plastic bullets and used water cannons and tear gas to suppress the protesters. Many protesters are reported to have been injured and hundreds have been arrested.
Iran’s National TV channel ( shebekey e 2) aired “Fetileh Hotel ” a program supposedly intended to train children. During the final episode of the show, the actors made mockery of ethnic Turks as they insinuated that Turks are idiots and uneducated as they are not even able to even make a distinction between a tooth brush and a toilet brush!

The show which was broadcasted on November 6th 2015 by Iran’s state TV depicted an Turkic father along with his son who stayed in the “hotel”. it was shown that the father comes to the hotel’s reception and complains about an unbearable odor in the room. The “manager of the hotel” later on, “finds out” the unbearable odor is actually coming from the kid’s mouth ” because the boy had mixed up the toilet brush with the tooth brush and brushed his teeth with the toilet brush.”!!!
The boy also tells to his father in Turkic: ” Dad, let’s leave this hotel. I think they fed us with “sewage” for dinner last night!”

Azerbaijani Turkic, the language of over 40 million Turks in Iran, has been strictly banned from schools and national TV channels for the last century. However, to everyone’s surprise the entire conversation exchanged between “the father and son” in the last episode of Fetileh show was in Turkic, obviously ill-intended to insinuate and propagate that the Turks are ignorant and illiterate.
Despite the heavy crack down of protests yesterday, thousands of arrests and regime’s military presence, the people of S. Azerbaijan is not willing to easily drop off the fights. Azerbaijani students have continued the anti-racism protests today and pledged to continue many days to come.
Protests and rallies stated this morning are mostly being held in the universities including University of Tabriz, University of Madani Tabriz, University of Maragheh , University of Zengan, University of Urmia and other centers of higher education.
With signs and banners such as ” Say no to racism”, ” Education in mother language”, ” End Persian racism NOW”, and ” We Are Proud to be TURK” the Azerbaijani Turkic intellectuals are demanding an end to possibly most disgusting type of racism freely exercised by Persian(fars) media and state-run TV channels against non-fars ethnics particularly Turks.
A Brief Background
Turks who make up over half of Iran’s population had established powerful states, dynasties and empires such as Safavid, Avshar, Ayabaks, Ghajar, etc which had ruled hundreds of ethnic groups including Persians for more than a thousand years.
However, after the collapse of the last Turkic empire, the Ghajar Dynasty in 1920’s and establishment of current “Iran” nation- state in 1936 by British colonialists and their puppet, Riza Pahlavi, the Turkic language and culture which once dominated “Iran” and surrounding countries for a 1000 years have been strictly forbidden and the Farsi language, the language of a small ethnic minority in Iran, has been proclaimed the sole official language in attempt to negatively assimilate Turks and other ethnic communities into Farsi-Persian language and culture.
In spite of the fact that Farsi language has proven to be incapable, mainly due to its flows and inadequacies, to freely influence very resourceful Turkish language and culture, the Iranian regimes have chosen to conduct unimaginable racist policies and masseurs against other non-Farsi cultures especially the Turkic culture which they fear the most.
The state media usually ridicules Turkic culture and language and demonstrate the Turks as “idiots”, of course, with the evil intention to cause inferiority in Azerbaijani Turkic people particularly children and ease up their negative assimilation into Farsi language, a dialect comprised of Hidi, Urdu, Arebic and Turkic verbs and terminologies.
The protesters carried signs and banners which read: “ Turkish Must be the Official Language”, “ We are proud to be Turk” and “Turkic School for everyone”
Reportedly unlike mainland Azerbaijan, the Ghom demonstrations ended without major incidents.
A day earlier Qashgayis of Shiraz organized a protest at the Shiraz Office of the Iranian National Broadcasting Organization and chanted slogans such as ” Unity of Qashqayi and Azerbaijan”
In another development, Mr. Afsharnia a prominent Tehran lawyer has filed a complaint against Iran’s National TV and its chairman Mr. Sarafraz. The complaint was filed with the “Farhang Courthouse” yesterday, demanding immediate actions against the chairman Sarafraz, directors and actors of the Fitileh program
in which Azerbaijani Turks were depicted as ignorant people who brush their teeth with toilet brush! The Azerbaijani lawyer asked the Iranian judicial authorities and Prosecutor General to commence a criminal proceeding against the head of national TV, directors and actors of Fetileh Show under s. Iran’s Criminal Code and prosecute them.
Given the fact that there is no independent judiciary in Iran, it is less likely Mr. Avshania’s complaint would be taken seriously.
HUNDREDS ARRESTED; IDENTITY OF 130 DETAINEES ARE ESTABLISHED
Over the course of the 5 days protests in many cities of mainland South Azerbaijan and Gilan, Tehran, Ghom, Shiraz and other regions hundreds of Turkic protesters have been arbitrarily detained by riot police and transferred to unknown holding facilities.
They are feared to have been ill-treated and tortured, most probably, in order to extract “confessions” which somehow would associate the recent protests to Iran’s “enemies” such as Israel or U.S.
In another development a prominent movement leader, Abbas Lisani of Ardebil was secretly transferred to Shiraz prison. Lisani was being held in his hometown, Ardebil prison serving his 1 year term for “propagating against Islamic regime.” Lisani’s children were also beaten up by local intelligence agents.
It is claimed that hundreds of activists are arrested. However, only the identity of approximately 130 activists have been established. Their names are posted hereinafter:

IRAN’S AMBASSADORS RECEIVE SPECIAL GIFTS : USED TOILET BRUSHES AND TOOTH PASTE
The Azerbaijani Diaspora of Ukraine has kicked off a campaign against the state-run fascism in Iran. The Azerbaijani Diaspora has couriered a used toilet brush and tooth paste as a surprise gift to the ambassador of Iran in Kiyev, Ukraine.
Today also the demonstrators placed a couple toilet brushes at the gate giving entry to the İranian Consulate General’s building in Istanbul, Turkie, proceeded by speeches and slogans calling for end of the current institutionalized Turk-phobia in Iran once and for ever.
The “Toilet Brush” campaign has been picked up by other activists and peoples of Turkic origin around the world who pledged to send much more toilet brushes and tooth pastes to the ambassadors of Islamic Republic of Iran in order to demonstrate their anger and solidarity with the Turkic peoples of Iran who were offended by the state channel 2 of Iran.
The “Fetileh” children show had gone on antenna on 6 November 2015, in which Turks were portrayed as idiots who are unable to distinguish between a tooth brush and a toilet brush.
